Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has written to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas expressing concern over the advertisement campaign by Reliance Natural Resources Ltd.

(RNRL) against RIL regarding the KG basin contract. RIL has stated that such malicious campaign, particularly the charge that RIL would earn a windfall profit of Rs. 50,000 crore from gas fields, would severely effect the Ministry’s forthcoming NELP-VIII auction process.

“What makes the current campaign even more calumnious is that it has been launched not only when the matter is sub judice before the Supreme Court, but also seems timed to sabotage the government’s entire efforts to get investments under NELP-VIII,” RIL said.

Though RIL has not named Anil Ambani-led RNRL, it has said that “the interests of the country and its people were being unfortunately held to ransom by a group of people, who seem to be stopping at nothing, be it slander or blatant perversion of facts, to achieve their questionable aims”.
