A day after its workers called off their 13-day long strike, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) on Friday said normal production at its Manesar plant would resume on Saturday.

On request from its workers, the MSIL management decided to give workers one day off on Friday, while the workers have agreed to work on Sunday to compensate for the loss of production.

The strike ended late on Thursday night after the management and workers reached an agreement brokered by the Haryana Government and trade unions.

Lenient approach

It was decided that MSIL would reinstate all the 11 sacked employees and take a lenient approach on enforcing no-work-no-pay rule of eight days' salary cut for every single day of the stir.

However, the management did not concede to workers' main demand of formation of a separate union at the Manesar plant that rolls out about 1,200 units every day in two shifts of hatchbacks Swift and A-Star, and sedans DZiRE and SX4.
