Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (MSIL) on Tuesday launched the improved version of its compact car — Estilo. Equipped with its latest K-series petrol engine that gives better fuel efficiency, the 998 cc car comes with at an introductory price of Rs. 3.12 lakh-Rs. 3.95 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Launching the new car, MSIL Managing Director and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi said: “Product upgradation is an integral part of Maruti Suzuki’s business strategy and future plans. This is a way to include feedback from the customers and offer better products that match their tastes.” As per Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) tests, Estilo would give the mileage of 18.2 km a litre. Maruti has also dropped the successful brand name Zen from the car, which was initially introduced as Zen Estilo. The new Estilo would be produced from the company’s Gurgaon plant, which also manufactures two of its latest compact cars — A-Star and Ritz — that are also fitted with the new K-series engine.
Talking about Maruti Suzuki’s sales, Mr. Nakanishi said the company was expecting the sales to grow by over 10 per cent in the current fiscal in the domestic market. “We should reach 8 lakh units this fiscal, up from 7.22 lakh vehicles sold in 2008-09. We are expecting good growth in the upcoming festive season,” he added.
