Mahindra Satyam profit at Rs. 23 crore

November 15, 2010 10:18 pm | Updated 10:18 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Mahindra Satyam (formerly Satyam Computer Services) on Monday said it has posted a consolidated profit of Rs 23.30 crore for the July-September period this fiscal.

For the first quarter, the company's profit was Rs 97.5 crore.

Revenue for the first quarter stood at Rs. 1,248 crore. In the subsequent three-month period, the revenue was reported at Rs. 1,242.40 crore. The headcount for the company for the second quarter was 28,068.

In September this year, the company had announced its audited financial results for the two fiscals — 2008-09 and 2009-10.

The new promoters of the beleaguered Satyam Computer, had sought time to declare the financial results.

Mahindra Satyam had reported a net loss of Rs. 1,250 crore for the year ended March 2010, giving a first view of its financials almost two years after its founder B. Ramalinga Raju admitted to cooking company's account books for years.

“Our performance over the last two quarters clearly reflects the stability that has been brought in. We have retained our traditional strengths and leadership in enterprise business solutions and integrated engineering services,” Mahindra Satyam CEO C. P. Gurnani said.

In January 2009, former chairman and founder Ramalinga Raju had confessed the multi-crore scam wherein the company's profits had been overstated and assets falsified.

“We will continue to focus on enhancing capabilities, seek new partnerships, explore new domains and expand our global reach in a manner that enhances our customer's experience,” he added.

Tech Mahindra, which bought Satyam in April 2009 and is operating it as an independent company, plans to merge the firm into the parent after the restated results for fiscal years 2009 and 2010 are announced.
