Kamaz's unit to go on stream

February 23, 2010 01:50 am | Updated 01:51 am IST - MOSCOW:

Russia's largest truck maker Kamaz will formally flag off the assembly to manufacture Kamaz trucks at the Vectra Group's Hosur Plant, 70 km away from Bangalore, on February 25, a spokesman for Kamaz said here. Under a joint venture Kamaz set up with Vectra two years ago, the Hosur facility will roll out 5000 Kamaz trucks a year for India and Southeast Asian markets.

Kamaz heavy-duty trucks have won all the Paris-Dakar rallies in recent years. The company has 96 plants in Russia, Poland, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Vietnam, and Ethiopia. Earlier this month Germany's Daimler truck maker signed an MoU to increase its stake in Kamaz from 10 to 15 per cent.
