JSW Energy enters profit zone

JSW Energy has reported a net profit of Rs. 254 crore for the second quarter ended September 2012, as against a net loss of Rs. 109 crore during corresponding quarter of the previous year. Total income from operations more than doubled to Rs. 2,077 crore. The plant load factor also grew to 87.79 per cent as against 63.58 per cent.

During the quarter the company generated 4,593 million units, up 77 per cent over the year-ago period.

For the half year ended September 2012, the company’s net profit grew sharply to Rs. 257 crore from Rs. 27 crore in the year-ago period. Total income increased by 88 per cent to Rs. 4,268 crore.

The net generation of 9,324 million units in the first six months, witnessed a growth of 86 per cent over corresponding period of the previous year, the company said.
