Jaguar Land Rover’s facility in Halewood U.K. will work on a 24-hour shift to meet the demand for its highly successful, the Range Rover Evoque.
In a statement, Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) said that for the first time in Halewood’s 50-year history that the 4,500-strong Halewood workforce would work round-the-clock to meet the demand for Range Rover Evoque.
JLR has sold nearly 88,000 vehicles of Range Rover Evoque in more than 170 markets since its launch in July 2011, the company said. In March this year, the company started recruiting 1,000 new production operators to move to a 24-hour production. The new recruits will manufacture Range Rover Evoque and updated Land Rover Freelander 2 models across three shifts, including a new night shift.
In a statement, Des Thurlby, HR Director, JLR, said, “with 4,500 employees, JLR Halewood has trebled its workforce in just three years — and the size of the workforce is now the highest it has been for 20 years. As well as creating new jobs, our on-going global success means we continue to have a positive economic impact in the North West and throughout the U.K. supply chain.”
