‘Hot’ production of the sinter plant at IISCO Steel Plant (ISP), Burnpur commenced on Monday, with the facility producing the first batch of iron nuggets.
Production through the sinter route is now a worldwide accepted technology across modern steel plants. Sinter plant is an important unit of any modern steel plant.
The sinter plant at ISP is one of the key packages of the 2.5 MT/yr expansion project. The sinter package, being executed by Larsen and Toubro Ltd, has an annual production capacity of 3.8 MTPA.
The initiation of hot production comes as welcome gesture for the parallel units of coke oven, coke dry cooling plant, power blowing station, wire rod mill, blast furnace, basic oxygen furnace and continuous casting plant, which are in advance stages of completion and commissioning, according to an ISP press release.
