Infosys to hire 35,000 in 2013

Infosys on Friday said it will hire 35,000 people this fiscal, including 13,000 for its BPO operations.

“We are going to add 35,000 more people next year, which includes 13,000 people for the BPO operations,” Infosys Chief Financial Officer V. Balakrishnan said.

Infosys and its subsidiaries added 10,676 employees in the fourth quarter of FY’12, while the net addition during the period stood at 4,906 people.

Its total employee strength was 1,49,994 as on March 31. Infosys on Friday reported a 27.4 per cent jump in consolidated net profit at Rs 2,316 crore for Q4 FY’12, as against Rs 1,818 crore in the January-March quarter of FY’11.

Infosys also plans to hire about 1,200 in the US. “In the last two years, we hired 1,200 people onsite in the US each year (who were) local hire. We are going to continue with that this year and will hire 1,200 people in the US,” Mr. Balakrishnan said.
