Indus Institute of Hospitality and Culinary Arts, a speciality cruise training institute based in Chennai, is planning to expand its operations by opening centres, one each in North and North East India. The institute, a division of Indus Hospitality Careers & Training Pvt. Ltd., was offering specialised advanced courses in continental cuisine, designed for the international cruise industry. It has zeroed in a strategic partner from Gujarat who would take a significant stake in the equity capital of Indus Hospitality, according to Captain Amarjeet Vidyarthi, Managing Director.

In an interaction with this correspondent he said since 1998, when it started its operations in New Delhi it had trained over 5,000 students with near 100 per cent placement record.

The institute's principal clients included Carnival Cruise Lines, Costa Cruises, Mediterranean Shipping Cruises and Island Cruise Services, Mr. Amarjeet said.

The Chennai facility has air-conditioned classrooms with audio-visual teaching aids, state-of-the-art hot and cold kitchens designed along cruise line galleys, guest rooms and bathrooms laid out hotel-style and modelled on cruise line cabins for conducting practical training in housekeeping.

There are plans to open an office in Malaysia in the next six months, Mr. Amarjeet said.
