Idea Cellular, a part of the Aditya Birla group, has reported a 14 per cent growth in consolidated net profit at Rs.229 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2012, against Rs.201 crore in the same period in the previous year.
During the period, the company’s consolidated total revenue went up by 11 per cent to Rs.5,578 crore from Rs.5,030 crore.
On a standalone basis, Idea Cellular reported a net profit of Rs.183 crore for the quarter under review as compared to Rs.163 crore, up 12 per cent. Standalone total revenue was Rs.5,467 crore against Rs.4,966 crore, up 11 per cent according to a filing with the BSE.
On the outlook, the company said, “Idea is confident to overcome the current uncertain regulatory phase, emerge competitively stronger as the overcapacity comes to an inevitable decline, consolidate its position in the telecom voice market and aggressively expand in the ever-evolving wireless broadband business.”
Shares of the company closed with a gain of 0.62 per cent at Rs.113.50 on the BSE.
