November 11, 2010 02:18 am | Updated 02:18 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL) on Wednesday said it has sold over 2.5-lakh units of its premium hatchback i20 since its launch in December 2008. HMIL introduced its two new variants, Era & Sportz, in April this year and that too have received good response.

Of the 2.5-lakh i20 cars sold so far, over 92,000 cars have been sold in the domestic market and around 1.68-lakh units were exported to around 80 countries. To celebrate this success, the company has equipped the Asta variant of the i20 with the cutting edge GPS-based (global positioning system) audio visual navigation (AVN System).

According to HMIL Managing Director and CEO H. W. Park: “The i20 in less than two years since its launch has become the most popular car in the premium hatchback segment with its stylish exteriors, premium features and offer of variants in petrol, diesel and automatic transmission options.” The option would be available only in the i20 Asta variants and with the AVN system, it would have the starting price at Rs.6.30-lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
