China's Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. on Thursday announced its entry into the Indian open market with the launch of its new series of handset devices — Hangout and Android.

To be available from August 1, these new mobile phones utilise Qualcomm's advanced chipset solutions and would be priced above Rs. 2,000.

“Our offerings are based on partnership, customisation and value. Through the launch of these products, we hope to enrich lives of Indian consumers. With the Indian telecom industry growing of over 1.50-crore subscribers every month and poised to reach 100-crore by 2015, Huawei sees traction in the Indian telecom device segment. With our entry into the open market, we will continue to look at all the possible growth opportunities,” said Victor Xu, Chief Marketing Officer, Huawei Device.

Huawei shipped over 50-lakh devices to India in 2009. It has delivered over 2.50-crore devices till date.
