Despite concerns over the Chinese firm’s gear

Less than a few months after security concerns were raised over Huawei’s products, the Chinese telecom gear maker has decided to tie up with HCL Infosystems for the distribution of the former’s entire product range and solutions across the country.

Digilife Distribution and Marketing Services (DDMS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of HCL Infosystems, will distribute Huawei’s enterprise network solutions, infrastructure, data storage services, smart phones, tablets etc.

“We believe the Indian market has huge potential. We want to take our broadened ICT product and solution portfolio to the top 200 towns, Tier 3 & 4 towns and even rural markets. With DDMS’s structured network, this will be possible,” said Eric Yu, President, Huawei Enterprise Business Group, India, in a statement.

The partnership would also be extended to include collaboration on marketing, sales and technical areas as well.

This move also comes just days after the Department of Telecom decided to exclude Huawei from the list of companies with local manufacturing capabilities, a list that includes Nokia Siemens but does not mention the Chinese firm.
