Hotel Leela founder Capt Nair steps down as Chairman

The grand old man of the Indian hospitality industry, Captain C. P. Krishnan Nair, on Thursday, stepped down as the Chairman of Hotel Leelaventure, the company he founded in 1981.

Capt Nair, 91, will be succeeded by his eldest son Vivek Nair, who has been elevated by the company’s board to be the Chairman and Manging Director.

Considering the invaluable contribution to the company, the board has honoured Capt Nair by appointing him as the ‘Chairman Emeritus’ of the company with effect from Thursday, the company said in a filing to the BSE.
