Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL), on Wednesday, reported a higher net profit of Rs.602 crore in the fourth quarter of 2011-12 against Rs.553 crore in the year-ago period, said a company release. The turnover in the quarter under review is higher at Rs.16,646 crore against Rs.13,491 crore in the year-ago period.

For the whole of 2011-12, the profit after tax is lower at Rs.909 crore against Rs.1,177 in 2010-11. The turnover was Rs.57,207 crore in 2011-12 against Rs.43,724 in 2010-11, said the release.

The ONGC subsidiary has posted a gross refining margin (GRM) of 7.07 $/bbl in the fourth quarter despite steep rupee depreciation at the end of the quarter. It recorded the highest-ever throughput of 12.82 million metric tonnes per annum.
