General Motors India is eyeing the small car segment in big way. Last year, the company sold over 70,000 units and of which about 30,000 vehicles were in the mini car segment. The company, which had six per cent growth rate last year, was hoping to achieve double digit growth this fiscal, said P. Balendran, Director and Vice-President, Corporate Affairs, GM.
Launching the Chevrolet Beat in Chennai here on Tuesday, Mr. Balendran told presspersons that Chevrolet’s growth strategy in India would depend on the mini car segment. Chevrolet Beat would be the third variant in the mini car segment, the other two being Chevy Aveo and Spark.
Beat would be sold alongside the old Spark in India. It had been launched globally in Europe, North America, and other parts of Asia.
The car would come in three variants, Chevrolet Beat PS, Chevrolet Beat LS, and Chevrolet Beat LT, priced at Rs. 3.34 lakh, Rs. 3.54 lakh, and Rs. 3.94 lakh, respectively (ex-showroom, Delhi). For now only the petrol version of Chevrolet Beat would be available.
