Pharma major Dr. Reddys Laboratories on Monday said it has begun the sale of Amlodipine Benazepril capsules, used for the treatment of hypertension, in the U.S.

The company launched the Amlodipine Benazepril capsules, which are a bio-equivalent generic version of Lotrel capsules, in the U.S. market on April 23, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

The United States Food & Drug Administration granted approval for capsules on April 15, it said.

“In September 2009, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories had entered into a patent settlement with Novartis on Amlodipine Benazepril, stipulating the dismissal of the lawsuits in the U.S,” it added.
