Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Thursday ordered a probe into the incident of a pilot of Kingfisher Airlines flying a woman in the cockpit of the aircraft on the Delhi-Mumbai flight on August 19 in violation of the rules.
Kingfisher Airlines, which is already faced with safety audit from DGCA and is currently trying to satisfy the regulator about its operational capacity, came under scrutiny after reports emerged that one of the pilots of the aircraft had flown a woman in the cockpit despite protests from the crew.
The DGCA has asked the cash-strapped airline to submit a report, warning that it would initiate stern action if the pilot was found guilty of violation of norms. Sources said the captain of a Delhi-Mumbai Kingfisher flight had on Sunday allegedly allowed a woman to fly in the cockpit. The captain is a head of the Kingfisher Airline’s pilot training.
As soon as the flight landed in Mumbai, the cabin crew lodged a complaint with the airline management, sources said.
