Cognizant third quarter revenue up

Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation has registered a revenue of $1.601 billion in the three months ended September 30, 2011 against $1.216 billion in the same period in the previous year, a growth of 32 per cent. According to a release, the quarterly diluted EPS on a GAAP basis was $0.73 against $0.66. Net headcount additions for the quarter exceeded 12,000, which included about 4,000 employees from the CoreLogic India acquisition.

The growth during the quarter was again broad-based across the portfolio of industries, services and geographies, said Francisco D’Souza, President and CEO.

On the basis of guidance provided for the fourth quarter, revenue is anticipated at $1.66 billion and diluted EPS $0.76 on a GAAP basis and $0.82 on a non-GAAP basis, which excludes $0.06 of estimated stock-based compensation expense. The fiscal 2011 revenue is expected to be about $6.11 billion, up atleast 33 percent compared to 2010.
