Coal India Limited (CIL) on Friday paid Rs.1,989.65 crore as interim dividend for the fiscal 2010-11 to the Central Government at the rate of Rs.3.50 per share. The amount of Rs.1,989.65 crore constitutes 90 per cent and the balance 10 per cent is being distributed among the shareholders of the company.

The dividend cheque was handed over to Union Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal by CIL Chairman P. S. Bhattcharyya along with CMDs of coal companies and functional directors of CIL in New Delhi. In 2009-10 CIL paid Rs.2,210 crore as final dividend.
