Will help Cargotec improve productivity and operational efficiency worldwide

Cargotec, a provider of cargo handling solutions for ships, ports, terminals and local distribution, has selected Tata Communications as its network supplier to avail wide area network (WAN) connectivity at over 150 sites globally through the Indian company’s round-the-world fibre optic cable network.

This tie-up is expected to help Cargotec improve productivity and operational efficiency worldwide by streamlining its supply chain.

Cargotec has operations in over 50 countries across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Americas and Africa.

“As a truly global organisation, we need our network supplier to have the infrastructure and the resources we need in all markets and geographies, which is why we chose Tata Communications,” said Soili Mäkinen, Chief Information Officer, Cargotec.

“We look forward to working with Cargotec over the coming years to unlock further operational efficiencies throughout their network.” James Walker, Vice-President, Managed Network Services, Tata Communications, said.

Recently, Tata Communications completed the world’s first wholly-owned round-the-world fibre optic cable network, bringing increased capacity and enhanced communications links to both developed and emerging markets.

``Tata Communications owns and operates the world’s largest sub-sea cable network, which, in combination with its other investments and commercial arrangements, has the ability to provide services to countries representing 99.7 per cent of the world’s GDP,’’ Tata Communications said in a release.
