Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. on Thursday said it would provide free data card to its customers, besides announcing attractive pre-paid and post-paid tariffs for 3G and 2G services.
As per the new plan, any customer by subscribing for monthly 2 GB plan for 15 months, 10 GB plan for 10 months and unlimited plan for four months can get one 3G data card free from BSNL.
BSNL has also launched an unlimited plan Rs.999 a month plan for 3G data service with a usage cap of 10 GB. The state-owned telecom firm is also providing unlimited Internet with a usage cap of 2 GB at Rs.98 of monthly charge for 2G subscribers. Similarly, EVDO data cards will be available at Rs.2,500 and subscribers can avail themselves of unlimited high speed Internet (3.1 MBPS peak speed) at a monthly charge of Rs.750. CDMA 1X cards will now come for Rs.2,000 and the unlimited Internet monthly plan for Rs.250.
Besides the data tariff, the BSNL's 3G voice plan has now been bundled with value addition that entitles customers to use free 100 minutes of video calling, 200 MB data and 2,000 free SMS within 30 days on activation of every 3G pre-paid SIM. The video call rate has been reduced to 30 paise a minute for 90 days on a promotional basis. BSNL has also introduced various other packages for varied customers as per their needs and requirements, promising cheaper tariffs and other usage. Interestingly, a 3G connection will work on both 3G and 2G networks across the country, as per its availability.
