Bharti rejigs top management

A day after announcing the acquisition of Bangladesh’s Warid Telecom, Bharti Airtel on Wednesday said it has formed ‘International Business Group’ that will be responsible for expanding the company’s operations beyond India and South Asia region. Manoj Kohli, who is now the CEO (India and South Asia) and Joint Managing Director of the company and a Bharti Airtel board member, will head the new group that will focus on expanding operations to international markets.

Similarly, Sanjay Kapoor, currently Deputy CEO of the company, will be elevated to the position of CEO (India and South Asia), Bharti Airtel. Both Mr. Kohli and Mr. Kapoor will report to Sunil Mittal, Chairman and Managing Director, Bharti Airtel. The new organisation structure is effective April 1. The International Business Group will comprise a team of professionals, including from within the Bharti group, from areas such as business development, networks and information technology.

On the other hand, Mr. Kapoor will have end-to-end responsibility of leading India and South Asia businesses of Bharti Airtel.
