BEML sets up centre in Indonesia

BEML has launched a company, namely, PT. BEML Indonesia, in Jakarta, Indonesia, on Monday.

BEML’s Chairman and Managing Director inaugurated the Indonesian marketing-cum-spares depot and service centre at Balikapapan, Indonesia, on August 25. The new company was launched by Muhammad Lutfi, Chairman, Investment Coordinating Board, Government of Indonesia, in the presence of BEML’s Chairman and Managing Director V. RS. Natarajan, and Director (Mining & Construction) M. Poongavanam. With this, BEML has so far established four overseas operating companies, the others being in Malaysia, China and Brazil, says a company release.

BEML’s local presence in Indonesia came up in the wake of the company bagging large export orders to the tune of $44 million. A further business for $78 million is on the verge of finalisation.
