Bajaj Auto on Wednesday launched the new version of its popular bike Pulsar and announced plans to introduce its high-end variants. The two-wheeler manufacturer has also decided to exit scooter manufacturing, which used to be its forte a few years ago.
Priced at Rs. 51,000, the new 135cc Pulsar aims at creating a new ‘light sports’ bike segment in the market. The Pulsar 135LS is powered with a state-of-the-art four-valve DTS-i engine, delivering 13.5 ps power. “The new bike delivers class-leading power and good mileage of over 68 km per litre,” said Bajaj Auto CEO (two-wheeler) S. Sridhar.
The new bike will be manufactured from the Chakan plant in Pune and will have a capacity of 35,000 bikes a month.
Talking to journalists, Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj said the company planned to develop high-end versions of Pulsar to expand in the bike segment.
