Qontext, an enterprise social collaboration software technology, has been acquired by U.S.-based Autodesk Inc. from Hyderabad-based Pramati Technologies.

The closure of the transaction, for an undisclosed sum, was announced at a press conference here on Friday by senior executives of Autodesk. The U.S.-based 3D design, engineering and entertainment software services company acquired the technology to leverage its cloud strength, and widen the scope of its 360 cloud-based service by infusing social capabilities from Qontext.

Innovative platform

Soren Abildgaard, Senior Director, Autodesk, said that Qontext’s team of 25 engineers were joining Autodesk. Apart from owning Qontext, Autodesk also wished to use the technical expertise of the Pramati team that developed the innovative platform, he added.
