Birla Kerala Vaidyashala, part of the Rs 3000 crore Yash Birla group has received approval from Rajasthan, Goa and Madhya Pradesh governments to set up medi-spa therapy centres in these states, a top company official said here today.
“We have got approval from Rajasthan, Goa and Madhya Pradesh governments to open 12 centres. The land will be provided by the government and we will provide nfrastructure”, Birla Kerala Vaidyashala Managing Director Harsheet Kurup told reporters after unveiling the first medi-spa therapy centre in the city.
The Yash Birla Group entered into a partnership with Kerala Vaidyashala in December 2008. The group holds a 51 per cent stake in the new entity. The company has earmarked Rs 50 crore in the next five years to open 200 medi-spa therapy centres in the country.
Kurup said the Rajasthan government has allotted five to eight acres of land each to set up the four therapy centres.
He said the company would share revenues with the government under this partnership.
Apart from this, the Birla Kerala Vaidyashala would open 50 medi-spa therapy centre across India in the next few months, he said.
“Initially, we will spend Rs 10 crore in this financial year. By March 2010, 50 of the proposed 200 centres will be operational”, Kurup said.
There are also plans to open six more centres in Chennai and another 20 centres in Tier II and III cities of Tamil Nadu, he said.
The company has set apart 25 per cent of its investments to operate 35 centres in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka, he said. On overseas expansion plans, Kurup said they would open four outlets under “franchise models” each in Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Singapore and Australia. “These centres should be operational very shortly”, he said.
