The Europe-based Alten Group, which specialises in the technology, consulting and engineering space, announced on Wednesday that it was ramping up in India headcount of engineers to 2,500 engineers by 2016 from 800 persons currently. The Group, with a turnover of 1.07 billion euros, is focused on engineering research and development in aerospace, railways, energy, telecom and healthcare. Gerald Attia, Deputy CEO, Alten Group, said the acquisition of Calsoft Labs in May 2011 had enabled it to expand its expertise in the Indian market for telecom product engineering and cloud computing. He said the group “aims to make strategic acquisitions in India in areas such as wireless communications, VLSI design, and big data analytics.” He said the increasing use of electronics, the demand for greater fuel efficiency, greater localisation and the decline in the availability of skilled personnel in the advanced economies were the primary drivers for the growth in Indian operations.
Ramandeep Singh, CEO, Calsoft Labs, said Alten had made “significant investments” in the company since acquiring it.
