Tracking the promises made in Railway Budget 2016

When Suresh Prabhu read out the Railway Budget last year, he may not have known that he was creating history. Mr. Prabhu is the last Railway Minister to have presented the Railway Budget. From this year, it will be part of the Union Budget presented by the Finance Minister.

In his budget speech, Mr. Prabhu proposed a three-prong strategy to “Reorganize, Restructure Rejuvenate Indian Railways”. He called them Nav Arjan (new revenues), Nav Manak (new norms) and Nav Sanrachna (new structures).
