Biman Bose demands CBI probe into Saradha ponzi scam

November 23, 2013 07:05 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 09:07 pm IST - Kolkata:

Left Front chairman Biman Bose on Saturday demanded a CBI probe into the multi-crore Saradha Group ponzi scam and claimed that several names other than that of its chairman Sudipta Sen had cropped up in connection with it.

“The names that are coming out in the open and what Rajya Sabha MP Kunal Ghosh is saying — all these should be investigated,” Mr. Bose told newspersons here.

“We want CBI to be entrusted with the investigation immediately...Ghosh must have been an instrument, but those who are instrumental in this should be investigated. The cat is coming out of the bag,” he said.

Mr. Ghosh, the suspended Trinamool Congress MP, had on Friday accused a section of the party leadership of making him a scapegoat in the ponzi scam and had claimed that he would reveal the names of the leaders to the police.

Mr. Ghosh had claimed in a press conference that these leaders had enjoyed the patronage of Saradha Group before the ponzi scheme collapsed.

Saradha Group, which allegedly duped people of over Rs 2,300 crore through its various ponzi schemes, went bust in April.

Mr. Ghosh was the head of Saradha Group’s media arm, which ran a number of newspapers and TV news channels.
