Bhoruka Power Corporation, which focuses on renewable energy, plans to have a total installed capacity of 300 MW by 2015.

Managing Director of Bhoruka Power S. Chandrasekhar told The Hindu on Friday that at present, the company had a total installed capacity of 160 MW. While 120 of it was hydro, 40 MW was wind energy. These projects were located in Karnataka, Haryana and Rajasthan. The growth plan of the company targeted a total installed capacity of 300 MW by 2015 and 500 MW by 2016. “The growth will be driven by wind,” he said. By 2016, the company would have 330 MW installed wind energy capacity and 170 MW of hydro capacity and have presence in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Tamil Nadu too. For the first phase expansion (reaching 300 MW in another three years), it would invest Rs.1,200 crore. “The financial closure is over for 50 MW, and for another 100 MW, it is in the process,” he said. The company generated 400 million units of power a year, and planned to take it up to 1,200 million units by 2016.
