The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday awarded the Indian team sponsorship rights to Sahara India Financial Corporation.
The agreement is expected to bring the BCCI a revenue of around Rs. 500 crore during the contractual period from July 1, 2010 to December 31, 2013.
According to a press release from N. Srinivasan, Secretary, BCCI, Sahara — which has been the Indian team sponsor for ten years — will pay Rs. 3.34 crore per Test match, one-day international and Twenty20 International.
The Indian team is expected to play about 150 matches. The BCCI did not receive bids for the India ‘A', India Under-19 and Women's teams.
The previous agreement entailed a payment of Rs. 1,90,91,000 (Test match), Rs. 2,08,91,000 (ODI) and Rs. 1,56,68,250 (Twenty20 international).
