April tourist arrivals rise 4.4% y-o-y

India saw the arrival of more than 7.4 lakh foreign tourists in April 2018, a growth of 4.4% from a year earlier, the government said in a statement.

Bangladesh (24.3%) was the top source country in terms of percentage share of foreign tourist arrivals, followed by the U.S. (11.2%), the U.K. (9.14%), Sri Lanka (3.48%), Australia (3.33%), Malaysia (3.06%), China (2.62%), Canada (2.53%) and France (2.33%)

At 28.8%, foreign tourist arrivals were the highest at the Delhi Airport, followed by Mumbai Airport (14.5%), Haridaspur Land Check Post (11.4%), Chennai Airport (7.44%) and Bengaluru Airport (5.81%), according to the statement.

As per the statement, in April, 2018, 1,57,094 tourist arrived on e-Tourist visa, a growth of 37% over same month a year ago.
