The co-founder and Executive Chairman of Infosys, N. R. Narayana Murthy, said on Friday that he was not worried about the exit of top-level executives as the company had a strong and larger leadership cadre.
Addressing a news conference at the company’s Mysore campus, Mr. Narayana Murthy said Infosys was the first Indian company to start a leadership institute and realised the importance of developing a large cadre of leaders. “The beauty of this company is it has strong and large cadre of leaders,” he said.
Mr. Narayana Murthy was responding to a query on the string of top-level departures from Infosys in the recent past and if it was a matter of concern to him.
“It is sad to see many of the excellent people leave the company for a new-found passion or to match their ambition that the company could not fulfil or some preferred lower challenges. Given these things, it is inevitable some left. But we have a wonderful team of leaders, and our two new Presidents are about 50 years old while the other executives are either in their 40s or even sub-40s who have shouldered enormous responsibilities of Infosys all these years.
“So, while we wish well and the very best for the people who have left, we are confident that this company has a strong and a large cadre of leadership, and, hence, I am not worried at all,” said Mr. Narayana Murthy.
He allayed fears that reorganisation of the company could lead to more exits.
