Swedish luxury car maker Volvo, on Friday, launched its compact crossover vehicle V40 ‘Cross Country’ priced at Rs.28.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The company’s Indian arm, Volvo Auto India, has tied up with Bajaj Allianz for vehicle insurance.

“Volvo V40 Cross Country, which is a variant of the V40, represents a model that is premium in design, features, technology and safety. The car will bring in new impetus to our growth strategy in India,” Volvo Auto India Managing Director Thomas Ernberg said.

The vehicle is powered by a 2 litre, 5-cylinder diesel engine.

The company claims it has a mileage of over 16 kmpl.

Volvo Auto India Marketing & PR Director Sudeep Narayan said, “The V40 Cross Country will attract the new generation of young upmarket luxury car buyers in India primarily because it offers high-end technology, driveability, safety and features parallel to none in this price bracket.” The V40 Cross Country will give competition to BMW’s X1 priced between Rs.27.9 lakh and Rs.32.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
