The Karnataka Government, on Saturday, asked the Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) management and its union to restore normality in operations immediately. This fiat is expected to break the stalemate between the management and workforce over wage and other contentious issues.An official of the Labour Department said the GO prohibited lock-out at the plants.
Though the management had lifted the lock-out a week after it was declared on March 16, the Government official insisted that the GO was for lifting the lock-out unconditionally. With a chunk of the 6,400 employees on strike for over a month, the company has been carrying out limited operations at the plants with the help of `supervisory’ staff.
The government official said wage issues had been referred to the Labour Court. However, the suspension of workmen had to be resolved only through talks between the management and workforce.
The government, he said, would take stock of the situation on Monday.
