Toyota deadlock continues

April 15, 2014 11:16 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 07:26 pm IST - BANGALORE:

Conciliation talks between the Toyota Kirloskar Motor management and the striking workforce at the two plants in Bidadi, near here, did not achieve a breakthrough when they resumed on Tuesday.

A government official, who was part of the efforts initiated by the Labour Department, said the talks had failed as both the sides struck to their position.

A report would be sent to the State government, indicating that any further development would be left to it.

Confirming that the conciliation (process) had failed, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) Employee Union President Prasanna Kumar C. did not elaborate.

In a statement, the company said: “We appreciate and thank the Government of Karnataka for their efforts for the conciliation process between our union and management. Despite the Labour Department’s efforts the matter has not been concluded yet. We now are in touch with the Labour Department for the next steps in this issue”.
