TCS to hire 25,000 freshers

Unlike its rival Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) enjoyed a low attrition rate during 2013-14 and has announced aggressive hiring plans for 2014-15.

TCS has fared well on the human resource front. During 2013-14, the company integrated 61,200 professionals with a net addition of 24,268 employees. “With business demand continuing to be robust, we have made almost 25,000 fresh offers on engineering campuses for trainees who will join us from the second quarter of the new fiscal year,” Ajoy Mukherjee, Executive Vice president, Head, Global Human Resources, TCS said.

During the fourth quarter of 2013-14, TCS’ gross addition was at 18,564 professionals and net addition was 9,751 of which 7,572 trainees and 7,401 laterals were recruited in India while 3,591 employees were hired in international locations. TCS had the highest retention in the industry with an IT attrition of 10.4 per cent and an overall attrition of 11.3 per cent. Utilization was at a high 83.8 per cent excluding trainees, and 77.9 per cent including trainees.
