Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) has bagged another contract for airframe assembly after having executed orders for global aviation majors such as Sikorsky and Lockheed Martin.
TASL has signed an agreement with Switzerland based Pilatus Aircraft for the manufacture and supply of Pilatus PC-12 Aerostructures at the Tata facility in Hyderabad, according to a company news release.
The Pilatus PC-12 is a popular turbine-powered business aircraft with over 1,300 pieces sold worldwide.
Pilatus is currently supplying the basic trainer to the Indian Air Force as part of a contract for 75 aircraft. The partnership with TASL is important in the context of Pilatus’ offset obligation resulting from this sale.
TASL has partnerships and joint ventures with Lockheed Martin and Sikorsky for manufacturing key aerostructures. It recently won contracts for Dornier fuselages and wings and Cobham Mission Equipment for air-to-air refuelling pods.
TASL has delivered over 75 Sikorsky cabins, and through its JV with Lockheed Martin, it has delivered components for the C-130 J Aircraft.
