Tata Motors sales down 27.6% in March

Tata Motors on Monday reported 27.59 per cent decline in its total vehicle sales at 72,712 units for March 2013.

The company had sold 1,00,414 units in the same month last year, Tata Motors said in a statement.

For the entire 2012-13 financial year, Tata Motors’ total sales went down by 10.66 per cent to 8,10,086 units from 9,06,768 units in the previous fiscal, it added.

In March, the total passenger vehicle sales in the domestic market stood at 12,347 units, down 66.62 per cent from 36,984 units in the same month last year.

In the commercial vehicles segment, the company’s sales dipped by 2.15 per cent to 56,813 units in the domestic market during the month under review compared to 58,063 units in the corresponding period last year.

The company’s exports decreased by 33.82 per cent to 3,552 units last month from 5,367 units in the same month last year, it added.

During 2012-13, Tata Motors’ domestic sales of passenger vehicles dipped by 29.20 per cent to 2,22,112 units from 3,13,710 units in FY’12, the statement said.

Commercial vehicle sales in last fiscal in domestic market sood at 5,37,143 units as against 5,29,980 units in the previous fiscal, down 1.35 per cent.

Exports for FY’13 also decreased by 19.42 per cent to 50,831 units from 63,078 units in FY’12, the company said.
