Tata DoCoMO bets big on SME space

September 30, 2013 11:30 pm | Updated June 02, 2016 04:17 pm IST - CHENNAI:

Tata Teleservices Ltd., which provides services under the Tata DoCoMo brand, is betting big on the small and medium size enterprise (SME) business.

Last fiscal, the company’s SME business achieved a 20 per cent growth as against the industry growth of 8 per cent.

“We are hoping to achieve a revenue market share in excess of 10 per cent, and are targeting a 20 per cent revenue growth,” said Prateek Pashine, President – SME Business, Tata Teleservices Ltd.

However, there are problems. Retaining SMEs over a period of time is becoming harder, according to Mr. Pashine, mainly because of the churn within the SME industry.

Nearly 30 per cent of SMEs shut down for various reasons.

“This mortality is usually not seen in the case of large companies,” he said.
