Tamil Nadu unit of Amway to go on stream in March

The first production line of Amway India Enterprises at Nilakottai near Madurai in Tamil Nadu will go on stream by March.

Amway has invested Rs.550 crore in the Madurai plant. The Madurai manufacturing facility, spread over 25 acres, would have production lines for nutrition, beauty and personal care products. The entire facility would be ready by Q3 of 2015, Amway India General Manager Anshu Budhraja said.

Talking to reporters, he said Amway was keen on making the Madurai facility as a regional export base to cater to the neighbouring markets such as Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.

In the next 3-5 years, it plans to garner 5-10 per cent of market share.The Madurai unit would be the company’s third facility outside of the U.S. It has manufacturing plants in China and Vietnam.
