Special audit ordered into Nokia India accounts

April 01, 2014 01:39 am | Updated May 21, 2016 07:34 am IST - CHENNAI:

The Central government has ordered a special audit into the accounts of Nokia India, even as it faces two separate tax disputes at the Centre and State level.

A special audit is usually defined as a re-look into the company’s accounts and is done by a third-party auditor that is hired by the tax authorities or government. When contacted, a Nokia spokesperson confirmed the development.

“Nokia can confirm it has received a special audit request from the Indian tax authorities.

“As with all tax discussions in India, Nokia will cooperate with the authorities and, where necessary, defend itself vigorously,” the spokesperson said.
