Sapa Extrusions eyes big in India

Sapa Extrusions India is targeting a turnover of Rs.180 crore this year (2014) with focus on construction, infrastructure and solar energy sectors. It notched up revenue of Rs. 108 crore in 2013, down from Rs. 120 crore in 2012 P. Kshemendra Nath, Managing Director, saidSapa AP had invested Rs.180 crore in India in the last two years.

The company had opened Sapa Shoppe in Coimbatore to reach out to customers directly, and planned two more retail outlets by the end of this year, he said. In Asia, Sapa has manufacturing facilities in China, India and Vietnam. Keith Jones, Business Area President of Sapa Extrusions Asia, estimated the Indian market for aluminium extrusions at 3.2 lakh tonnes as against 12 million tonnes in China.

The demand was expected to be higher in India with the growth of automotive, transport and building sectors, he added.
