SAP, a leading player in enterprise application software, expects the cloud to increasingly gain significance both globally and in India and is bolstering its cloud offering here.

SAP India saw its business grow in triple digits in 2013, and this phenomenal growth has prompted the company to announce a unified strategy of delivering next-generation cloud solutions, said Rajamani Srinivasan, Vice-President and Chief of Staff, SAP India.

The unified cloud offering is simpler, faster and with a more holistic approach, including Cloud HR with solutions from SAP to drive workforce strategies, cloud finance enabling real-time financial insight assisting in compliant accounting and financial reporting for global enterprises, cloud customer for sales, service & marketing and cloud procurement which lets companies connect with a global network of partners.

“Besides smaller companies, even larger ones are moving parts of their business onto cloud and this trend is likely to increase going forward,” he said, while addressing a media round-table. “Businesses today are exposed to situations beyond cloud that includes managing people, costs and achieving customer satisfaction.”

Many Indian companies have been on the SAP cloud including Ranbaxy Laboratories, Shapoorji Palloonji & Co, Asian Paints and Sun Pharmaceuticals.

John Ruthven, Senior Vice-President, Could & Line of Business, SAP – Asia Pacific Japan, said cloud had broken the earlier mould of solutions catering to only larger companies. “The demand is up and down the customer pyramid. There is no particular profile of a company adopting cloud. It is driven more by an innovation agenda across all sectors.” He said SAP would continue to grow its global portfolio by acquisitions, organic development and partnerships. SAP is adding 50 resources in the Asia Pacific region including India. “We are going in for a fairly significant hiring ramp up and the war for talent is at fever pitch.”
