SAIL gears up for fast-tracking ISP modernisation

May 21, 2013 11:15 pm | Updated 11:15 pm IST - KOLKATA:

In a bid to fast-track the modernisation of its IISCO Steel Plant (ISP), Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) has flagged the issues that need to be addressed for timely completion of the Rs.16,000 crore project.

SAIL Chairman C. S. Verma, who undertook a visit to Burnpur on Sunday to review the project, has initiated some management action to expedite the remaining part of the project, which has now reached an advanced stage. Enquiries revealed that all efforts were being made to complete the project by October.

Due to various reasons, most beyond its control, the project is running nearly 20 months behind schedule.
