U.S.-based Rockwell Collins and home-grown Zen Technologies, on Tuesday, entered into an agreement to tap the Indian defence market.

Both companies will be pooling their respective strengths in simulation and training to target Indian military customers.

While Rockwell Collins provides aviation simulation and training products, systems and integration solutions, Hyderabad-based Zen Technologies specialises in supplying ground military simulation and training solutions. The announcement coincided with the recent launch of the ‘Make in India’ campaign, noted Rockwell Colllins Asia Pacific Managing Director Jim Walker at a news conference while stating that the company was “here for the long term’’ and planned to invest in India through strategic partnerships and strengthening existing customer relations.

The existing partnership will open up avenues to further extend the company’s reach in the Indian defence market by providing Indian military customers with air and ground solutions that will better prepare their soldiers and airmen to successfully complete missions, noted another official LeAnn Ridgeway.

For Zen, the memorandum of understanding (MoU) enables it to enter the flight simulation segment besides retaining its edge as a strong force in land forces simulation. “We are very optimistic that this alliance will fill the gap in our capabilities to serve the needs of the flight simulation market in India,” said Zen Technologies President A. Kishore Dutt.
