Following the detection of a ₹11,500-crore fraud, Punjab National Bank has sought to ease concerns of customers, with the bank’s official Twitter handle on Monday denying rumours of restrictions on withdrawals.

“The bank has the capacity and capability to handle the situation and protect the interest of the institution. Some news like restrictions on withdrawal etc. is floating in some channels. It has been created by some miscreants and is totally baseless,” the bank said.

“We have adequate capital coupled with a strong non-core asset base,” the bank added.
