Numeric, a group company of Legrand, a French firm specialising in electrical and digital building infrastructure, wants to double its market share and exports in five years, according to a top official.
“Currently, we have a market share of 10-12% in India and exports account for 6% of total revenue,” said Palash Nandy, chief commercial officer, Numeric. “This, we would like to touch 20% and 10% respectively in five year’s time.’
Chennai-based Numeric, which makes Un-interruptible Power Supplies (UPS), was acquired by €5 billion Legrand in 2012. Since then, it had been posting compounded annual growth rate of 2.6% as against the industry average of negative 0.5%.
“The growth rate in single phase UPS is flat in value due to declining sales volume of desktops, while in three phase it is growing by 5%,” said Mr. Nandy.
“We are focusing on three phase UPS, as it is a growing market in the country. Our focus will be on few markets and segments which are growing faster such as IT, data centres, government, infrastructure, education and health care,” he said.
Mr. Nandy said that exports accounted for 6% of total revenue. Going forward, they would like it to contribute at least 10%. The products are now sold in Africa and Bangladesh.
“We have sufficient production capacity that would take care of our needs till 2020. Right now, commercial segment accounts for 80% of sales in value and 60% in units. By 2020, we expect residential segment to drop by 5% to 15% in value terms. We will be focusing on large products under three phase UPS,” he said.
On Thursday, Mr. Nandy announced the introduction of KEOR series of three phase UPS for data centres, business critical applications, IT, industrial, healthcare, office and commercial sector.
“It is highly efficient and easy to deploy and it comes in range from 60kVA to 4.8 MVA. It will be priced upwards of ₹8 lakh to ₹30 lakh, depending upon the configuration.
